CALF's Connecting Kids to Agriculture (CKA) Learning in the Field programs aim to provide students and teachers with a better understanding of the importance of agriculture in a hands-on, authentic environment. Depending upon the program, students may learn about the 5 food groups from a real farmer or rancher, understand the adaptations for plant survival by planting and harvesting in the Where Food Comes FromTM school garden, and learn about Colorado History through Native American storytelling.
CALF's CKA programs are designed to align with CDE grade-level standards for Science, Math, History, Comprehensive Health, Reading, Writing, Communicating or Physical Education! The typical program is approximately 4 hrs in length (10 am to 1:30 pm) and students bring their own sack lunch to enjoy inside or outside depending on the weather. We hope to see you soon at CALF's Lowell Ranch on Plum Creek! |
