Barnyard Buddies is designed for Kindergarten; however, we are happy to scale this program to meet learning expectations for other grade levels or learning abilities.

Explore a Real Ranch!

Barnyard Buddies is a fun, age appropriate "Learning in the Field" program created just for Kindergartners.

Activities / Experiences Include:   

• Farm Sorting and Counting - While learning about our chickens, Kindergartners will understand the purpose of counting and sorting on a ranch.  
• Barnyard Dance:  Kindergartners will perform Sandra Boyton's "Barnyard Dance" and visit CALF's livestock.
• My Plate Food Relay:  Your students will make connections between the 5 food groups and agriculture. 
• Exploring the Field: Kindergartners will explore a "field" with magnifying glasses and observe where plants grow. Each student will plant and take home their own seed necklace.  

​Barnyard Buddies starts at 10 am at CALF's Lowell Ranch on Plum Creek (about 3 miles south of Castle Rock).

Each student should bring their own sack lunch, good walking shoes, and dress for the weather.
